    Customer Service and conduct (Brighthouse) Aberdeen: I have had a 50" Tv from Brighthouse Aberdeen the Tv is great but on principle I am in the process on having the item returned due to how the staff treat there customers and there call centre by the look on previous reviews it must be common practice. I went on holiday and on my return i recieved a texted saying the payment was due I have had the Tv 4 months and had made 2 payments 1 month x 3 month so was in advance previous so called the store and tried to make payment but it had declined that i thought was strange so said i would call back. Needed to investigate and it was saturday and getting on 1630 they told me it would be a late fee of £5 that i excepted. It was bank charges and fee for being abroad that had caused the problem. My complaint is the demanding and also the amount of calls i recieved by Brighthouse between monday and tuesday 10 phone calls from call centres and the conduct of and the attitude of the staff in store and the call centre. I had explained at the beginning in store and over the phone that i will be paying them monthly at £48 a month. With the call centre they insisted that the full monthly payment needing paying i explained that i will be struggle alot and they i dont have the payment if they wait till the last day of the month i will bring the account up to date and also make a payment to cover the month and put it 3 months in advance like it was before but this wasnt exceptable with them i had to find the money for the month or i need to put the tv on hold and they would pick it up or take out a smaller tv which is stupid as it was a temporary problem due to being on holiday and not an affordability problem. An extract from the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) guidelines regarding the collection of debt: Physical/psychological harassment 2.5 Putting pressure on debtors or third parties is considered to be oppressive. 2.6 Examples of unfair practices are as follows: f. pressurising debtors to pay in full, in unreasonably large instalments, or to increase payments when they are unable to do so g. making threatening statements or gestures or taking actions which suggest harm to debtors. Some quotes from other cutomers so not isolated: "If a customer should fall behind with their payments, BrightHouse works closely with them to help get their agreement back on track. Our stores have a weekly relationship with each customer and are, therefore, well placed to help them get their payments under control. In certain circumstances the store manager is empowered to reschedule any debt that has accrued to the end of the contract.” It won’t be long before BrightHouse start chasing you for payment. You can expect a telephone call if your payment is just one day late! BrightHouse have also been known to phone around the names you have given as references and turn up unannounced at your home. They will bombard you with all sorts of “threats” ranging from insisting on a set time to pay - to instant repossession, but you should simply ignore and disregard anything BrightHouse tell you unless it is in writing. Any kind of aggression or confrontation should be avoided at all times. WARNING : If you trust this company you are naive: note: i did bring the account up to date on the tuesday after the hassle but it was my last £41 on a card but due to the 3 days of hassle by the store and the manager of the store. I ended the agreement and asked them to take it back as i waited friday and saturday for a call from them as they didn't want me to end the agreement but this never appeared took me to contact them about leaving them but when it was money they were very interested in calling and speaking to me.
